Scoring

I'm pretty sure a few of you are curious of how one would improve their scoring. Well, here's the scoring system, as I've figured out:

Your score is determined by two factors: The value of the pieces in the playing field and the chain conversions you have performed.

Piece value: The value of a piece has been approximated as the minimum number of Green Potions needed to make it. This comes to:

Green Potion: 1 Yellow Potion: 3 Orange Potion: 9 Purple Potion: 27 Grain: 81 Crisp: 243 Apple: 729 Eyeball: 2187 Bone: 6561 Blue Crystal: 19683 Shiny Crystal: 59049 Gold Nugget: 177147

This can easily add up, given that you have 49 spaces, and the game-ending play also counts towards score. Keep in mind, however, that the score only applies to the pieces in play. Removal of a piece will deduct its value from the total, so be careful with the explosives! Blowing up a Gold Nugget will set you back nearly 200 thousand points! Also, don't be too surprised if your total score falls after matching four or more. Four are removed, but only the value of three are given with the new item. However, you'll have more open space to (maybe) fit higher-value items.

Chain Conversions: This is whenever pieces in play fall to create more matches after the one created by the move you made. The mascot character (does he have a name?) on the left side of the game window will go through a set of animations as you add to the length of the chain. (I haven't seen beyond a 5-chain. Can he lean in any further than he does there?) Anyway, the scoring value of cascading is...comparatively low. 10 at the second chained match, 20 at the third (30 total), 30 at the fourth (60 total) and so on. However, these points cannot be deducted in any manner.

Hopefully, this has been helpful and informative.

oh Yes, this was very helpful! Thanks to you. (no joke) :D I have known that 4 pieces that transform into an new one will deduct the points, but I did not really know what points each piece give.

I didn't ever get past bonez, so the question: does all that imply, that gold nuggets will not be removed when stacked by three?

If not for this thread, I wouldn't know that putting up 4 or 5 is that bad.

Now I get better ingredients after the game! My favourite apples and eyeballs!
